Enigma DNA

Enigma is a name I give myself
Don’t fit a mold
No definition for me yet

This is my in my DNA
And for better or worse
I like it this way

Well usually, yes
But sometimes it’s too much
Just out of control
Dammit, put it away
You’ve had enough

With no role model for me
I poured over books
Gave 2000%
Yes, I’m a great mother

A host
And a friend
Volunteer, civic member
Class mother 10 years
More class trips than I remember

And there’s my name
My maiden name
With the DNA
Shadowing me
Making me flirt
Notice who’s
Noticing me

Buy the tight dress
Walk down the block
The long avenues of New York
My face straight ahead
Assured of my gait
It’s the confidence babe
And in peripheral vision
I can see them all gaze

This satisfies me
Feeds me
So I feed her some more
Find a more offbeat shop
Always first with the score

So I guess I’m sorta a bitch
Being so self-obsessed
But if you needed help, just call me
That crap is just tossed
Before anything
Before I was born
It was decided I was good
And to that I am sworn
