Couch
When I fall asleep on the couch I can hear my house
The kitchen clock
Squeak click of the hands moving
The constant hum of the refrigerator
I cannot decide if I like its white noise or dislike it’s
Inefficient noisiness
Keep my eyes closed I can be so disoriented from my
Sleep
Am I facing the front of the house or the back
Is my head toward the kitchen or the office?
I like this ‘not-knowingness’
The momentary dreamy-ness of not knowing
Linger
In the listening
Feel
Try to feel if there is warmth on my body
To know if the sun is up
To guess the time
And keep my eyes closed
Squeak click of the clock
My own game
My neck hurts
Consequence of the couch
