Changing of the Guard
I voted for President Obama twice. I have both agreed and disagreed with his decisions….drilling in unspoiled Alaska,
I have applauded his “in your face” back at Putin, and admire his vigilance in China with their claims of now owning international seas, their 5 radar-equipped aircraft carriers….I admire his “take no bs”. I’m aware of political/civilian ramifications….I still want our soldiers out of the Middle East.
I will miss his love for his family, and I hope some people learned from that. His adoration for his Bride these many years is endearing and heartwarming. But, ahhhhhh…..the wit of POTUS….I shall certainly miss that. I loved how he shut up a room…with a self-deprecating joke, with the way he dealt with hecklers, with his cammaerdie with Joe Biden.
Yes, Mr. President, you did what you could.
I wish Detroit had been helped; Flint; the Gulf…I wish more money went to Americans. I wish we would remember there is a future, and rebuild/repair America’s infrastructure…our bridges are falling.
And the most elegant, down-to-earth First Lady…..I thank you. I thank you for bringing childhood obesity to the forefront and preserving change; for playing and jumping rope to get kids to move; for teaching children to plant gardens. Most gracious First Lady, you have made a difference as a First Lady in a way that has not been done in decades. First Lady Bush accomplished little to help the average American; Nancy Reagan bullied through legislation to severely punish small marijuana possession….we now have tens of thousands serving 20 years for dime bags; Betty Ford was lost, but she did go on to help others, and I admire her for it….there were many but few loved Amerca. I thank you for that.
Mrs. Obama, you will be missed. You made a difference. You cared about Americans with positivity. You were so elegant.
I thank you both most respectfully for your service. It’s been quite a ride.
Pray for us…. None of us knows what’s coming.
